Dallas Hoops Fancast – Season 3, Episode 29
The Mavericks suffered another close loss, this time to the LA Clippers. But that’s not even the biggest news. Unfortunately, Dwight Powell injured his Achilles in the game, and it looks like he could miss a lot of games, perhaps the rest of the season.
In this episode, we talk about the game and what went wrong. The Clippers played physical defense, which the Mavericks seem to struggle with. What could the Mavericks have done differently? Are there adjustments that Luka Doncic can make or that coach Rick Carlisle can make? Or is this a mindset that a young team needs to develop?
We spend some time talking about the officiating and how frustrating it was. That’s not the reason the Mavericks lost, but it certainly didn’t help. This is a problem that keeps coming up. How can the Mavericks learn to move past it and not let it get to them?
After the game recap, we talk about Kristaps Porzingis and his health. Will these knee issues linger for the rest of his career? How many games can we expect him to play for the rest of this season and for his career? And are some Mavs fans already done with him?
We finish up with comments from Mark Cuban on Luka’s growth and a key moment in their recent game against Sacramento. Damian Lillard said Luka is “arguably the MVP”. Is that a reasonable take? We talk about Luka’s odds of winning an MVP at some point during his career.
