Dallas Hoops Fancast – Season 3, Episode 16
The Dallas Mavericks are hot right now. They were put to the test in their Sunday matchup against the Houston Rockets and came through with flying colors. Oh, and Luka Doncic broke another record. *yawn*
One of the hottest players for the Mavericks right now is Tim Hardaway Jr. Since being inserted into the starting lineup, Hardaway has been lighting defenses on fire with his shooting.
After averaging 10 points on 34% shooting (including 29% on 3-pointers) in a bench role, Hardaway is averaging 22 points and 4 assists on an insane 66% shooting (including 65% on 3-pointers) as a starter.
The odds of him continuing at this pace are low, but if he can round out into a consistent shooter, the Mavericks will have an even more potent offense.
Especially when you have a guy like Luka Doncic, who seems to shatter a different record every game. Luka is now the youngest player to have 4 consecutive games of 30 or more points and 10 or more assists.
The player who owned that record before Luka? Just a guy named Oscar Robertson.
These records Luka is breaking are outstanding. He’s doing things that have only been done by the all-time greats – Jordan, Magic, Bird, The Big O, LeBron.
And by his side is Kristaps Porzingis. He has struggled on offense in his first year back from a 20-month recovery from a torn ACL, but his defense has been amazing. Porzingis has taken ownership of that side of the ball and his impact is undeniable.

We saw so many good things in this game. The Mavs’ role-players continued to step up and play well. Dorian Finney-Smith has become a solid 3-point shooter, which makes him a valuable part of the team.
Dorian has always been a great defender, but his 3-point shooting left much to be desired. He is now making nearly 34% of his shots from 3-point range. If that production keeps up, he might finally fill the 3-and-D role the Mavericks have been grooming him for.
