Dallas Mavericks Game Recap – Mavs vs. Pistons October 9, 2019
We finally got to see Kristaps Porzingis!!!!!
Ok, that’s it. That’s the recap.
Just kidding. But seriously, nothing else in this game mattered besides seeing Porzingis play an NBA game. And he played well.
Kristaps scored 18 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. He was definitely hot to start the game, but he had highlight plays throughout – a stepback, a fadeaway, a crossover, two threes in a row.
It was fun to watch Porzingis in this game.
Another thing Mavs fans were looking forward to was seeing Luka Doncic and Kristaps play together. We didn’t see much of a two-man game. Not a ton of pick-and-rolls between the two. Rick seemed to do a pretty good job of spreading the offense around and Luka found the open man.
As much as I wanted to see 100 Luka-Porzingis pick-and-rolls, it’s just not practical.
Luka finished the game with 21 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists. He picked up right where he left off at the end of his Rookie of the Year campaign.
There were times we he seemed to just be toying with the defense. It seems like he can get whatever shot he wants.
We also got a good look at some other players who are trying to crack the rotation and fill that fifth starting spot.
Listen to the full podcast episode to get our thoughts on Kristaps, Luka, Tim Hardaway Jr., and whether or not the fifth starting spot has been filled.
