Dallas Hoops Fancast – Season 3, Episode 33
The Dallas Mavericks got a solid win over the Indiana Pacers on Monday night. Kristaps Porzingis led the team with 38 points, 12 rebounds, and 6 made 3-pointers, tying his career high in 3-point shots made. He was just two points shy of tying his career high in points.
Now that the Mavericks have some solid wins without Luka Doncic, there is a growing number of fans who say that the Mavericks are better without him.
That is absolutely not true.
The Mavericks play well when Luka is out. That’s a good thing. Being able to win games when your best player isn’t playing is a good sign, not a bad one.
Winning without a player is not the same thing as being better without him.
However, it is true that Kristaps is better when Luka doesn’t play. This shows that they haven’t quite figured out that paring. They have some growing to do and we probably won’t see them reach their full potential as a duo this year.
In this episode we talk about why Kristaps is so different when Luka doesn’t play and what Rick Carlisle and the Mavericks can do to make their two-man game work better.
